EAST VILLAGE

About

A NEW URBAN CENTER

East Village—Downtown San Diego’s largest neighborhood—has experienced a modern revival and transformed into a vibrant, diverse community. With the growing energy of over 5,000 new residential units, an array of shopping and dining options, as well as some of the city’s most important cultural institutions, East Village is a 24-hour community with the potential to become a true live/work/play environment.

Seeing this as an opportunity to fulfill a vital need in the community, Kilroy plans to expand its platform of innovative, highly sustainable projects by establishing a new urban center in East Village. A workplace closer to home for residents of nearby communities, the campus will foster flexible and resilient workspaces, support walkability and accessibility, and create amenities that optimize workflow and creativity.

FLEXIBLE & RESILIENT WORKPLACES

As our shared environments continue to evolve, Kilroy is actively ensuring the safety of its tenants and surrounding communities, going above and beyond to create functional and healthy spaces. Our plans include people-first solutions that support the needs of tomorrow, and our commitment to cultivating healthy and prosperous communities continues to be a catalyst for architectural innovation. Some proactive design initiatives that we hope to include are:

  • Large, flexible floor plates that allow for distanced and collaborative layouts

  • Activated open stairwells to reduce elevator congestion

  • Outdoor terraces and decks to create opportunities to collaborate while maintaining social distance and fresh air access

  • Touchless entry to reduce surface-to-person transmission

  • Indoor/outdoor lobby to reduce opportunities for congestion

  • Provide more outside air than recommended by ASHRAE (code) to reduce airborne transmission

  • Receive the highest level of third-party preparedness review with Underwriter’s Laboratory to verify all recommended CDC and WHO measures have been successfully implemented, including on-site air/water/germ testing prior to occupancy

MEET THE NEIGHBORS

Much like Little Italy ten years ago, East Village has experienced a retail rejuvenation. Within blocks, you will find some of San Diego’s most popular restaurants, bars, and boutiques, alongside important cultural and educational institutions—it’s the place to play and primed for growth.
